The Top 10 Florida Daily Newspapers by Circulation
There are several dozen daily or weekly newspapers throughout Florida, with the oldest of them founded during the height of the U.S. Civil War. Today several large daily newspapers serve the state from Miami to the Panhandle.

1. Tampa Bay Times
Previously named the St. Petersburg Times (until 2011), this newspaper was founded in 1884 and is published by the Times Publishing Co.

2. Sun-Sentinel
The Sun-Sentinel is the largest newspaper in Fort Lauderdale, along with the surrounding Broward County and southern Palm Beach County. It’s run by Tribune Publishing.

3. Orlando Sentinel
The Orlando Sentinel was founded in 1876 and serves the Orlando/Central Florida region. It’s published by Tribune Publishing.

4. Miami Herald
Headquartered in Doral and serving the Miami metro area, the Herald is published by The McClatchy Co. and was founded in 1903.

5. Palm Beach Post
Serving Palm Beach County and parts of the Treasure Coast. Published by Gatehouse Media, founded in 1916.

6. The Daytona Beach News-Journal
Originally the Halifax Journal, this incarnation of the newspaper was first published in 1986 after a merger of The Morning Journal and Evening News. It serves Volusia and Flagler counties.

7. The Villages Daily Sun
Published in The Villages by Villages Media Management, this newspaper serves Sumter, Lake, and Marion counties.

8. Sarasota Herald-Tribune
Published by Gatehouse Media, it was founded as the Sarasota Herald in 1925 and was previously owned by the New York Times Co.

9. Florida Times-Union
Founded as the Florida Union in 1864, during the U.S. Civil War, and serving the Jacksonville area. The Union merged with the Daily Times in 1883 to create the Times-Union.

10. Naples Daily News
Also known as Collier Citizen, it’s published by Gannett Co. and serves the Naples and Collier County area.
