The Top 10 Massachusetts Daily Newspapers by Circulation

Massachusetts is home to the very first printing press ever set up in North America, and the state (then a colony) published its very first newspaper in 1690, entitled “Public Occurrences Both Foreign and Domestick”. It was one of three newspapers in Boston to be the first three newspapers ever published in the United States.

    Published in Quincy by GateHouse Media, the Patriot Ledger was founded in 1837 and primarily serves communities south of Boston.
  • 7. Cape Cod Times
    The Cape Cod Times serves Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket and was founded in 1936. It’s published by GateHouse Media.
  • 8. Telegram & Gazette
    Published in Worcester and serving Worcester and parts of Windham counties, along with parts of western Massachusetts.
  • 9. The Berkshire Eagle
    Based in Pittsville and serving Berkshire County, the Eagle was founded in 1892 and is published by New England Newspapers.
  • 10. The Sun (Lowell)
    Serves the Greater Lowell area and surrounding areas. Founded in 1878 as the Lowell Weekly Sun.
