The Top 10 Missouri Daily Newspapers by Circulation

The first newspaper in Missouri, the St. Louis Gazette, appeared in 1808 and went through several name changes before ceasing publication as the Missouri Republican in 1869.

    Founded in 1845 and originally named the St. Joseph Gazette, the News-Press is published by News-Press & Gazette Co.
  • 5. The Southeast Missourian
    Published in Cape Girardeau, the Southeast Missourian serves Missouri’s southeastern region and was founded in 1904.
  • 6. Daily American Republic
    Published in Poplar Bluff, the Daily American Republic was founded in 1934 and covers the Poplar Bluff and Butler areas.

    Published in Joplin, the Globe serves 14 counties in southwestern Missouri and was founded in 1896.
  • 8. Jefferson City News Tribune
    Also known as simply the News Tribune, it was founded in 1865 and is published in Jefferson City.

    Also known as the “Columbia Tribune” or just the “Tribune”, it’s published by GateHouse Media and was founded in 1901.
  • 10. The Examiner
    Published five days a week and primarily serving eastern Jackson County, including Independence, Blue Springs and Grain Valley.
